The U.S.S. "Ebanol" (NCC-3242) "Ianar" class fast frigate is laid down at Star Fleet Division, Guangzhou Docks, Earth [IFP].

Project Grey Ghost returns and is heralded a complete success. Star Fleet gains important information on the nature, organization, and threat capabilities of the Romulan Star Navy [FASA].

The "Scorpio" class corvette enters service. 192 of these 4-man, warp 9 capacity ships will be constructed. They will supplement Star Fleet's monitors, most of which restricted to in-system or near-base patrols, extending the defensive range of bases or systems requiring protection [FASA].

27 June
The U.S.S. "Arashi" (NCC-1051) "Arbiter" class perimeter action ship is commissioned [SotF2].

11 July

[Y 177] Desperately besieged, the Tholians agree to let ships of their allies enter the Holdfast, but only those of the Gorns and Kzinti (since they would not pose as much of a later threat). Ardak Kumerian is restored to his rank as Captain of the D6 "Destruction" [SFB].

11 August
The U.S.S. "Fredrikstad" (NCC-2204) shuttlecarrier is commissioned [SotF].

12 August
The U.S.S. "Arauca" (NCC-1029) "Akyazi" class perimeter action ship is commissioned. On stardate 8922.6, she will encounter heavily-armed, unidentified spacecraft at the Subquadrant 4 north perimeter. By stardate 8922.79, the "Arauca" will engage the vessels after being fired upon three times, inevitably to result in the perimeter action ship's destruction but not before inflicting significant amounts of damage on several of the un- identified units [SotF2].

24 August
The U.S.S. "Akula" (NCC-1090) perimeter action ship is launched [SotF2].

26 August
The U.S.S. "Ding Hai" (NCC-3244) "Ianar" class fast frigate is laid down at Star Fleet Division, Guangzhou Docks, Earth [IFP].

The U.S.S. "Raritan" (NCC-1845) "Enterprise (II)" class heavy cruiser is laid down at Star Fleet Division, San Francisco Yards, Earth [SotF, HCE].

January [reference stardate 2/2301] The "Reliant" class cruiser U.S.S. "Accommadator" (NCC-26256) returns from a 3-year mission into the spinward frontier. Most crew members are given leave while the ship undergoes scheduled maintenance. During the maint- enance checks, the "Accommadator" is found to need parts not readily avail- able and is therefore removed from its moorings inside the drydock and placed in an exterior mooring. A month later the "Liberty" class freighter U.S.S. "John B. Goodings" loses its directional maneuvering control system and rams the "Accommadator" causing excessive external damage and internal fires. The burning hull is towed away from the repair facility and allowed to burn itself out. Found unservicable by a damage control team, the ves- sel is scrapped [FASA].

28 January
The U.S.S. "Sumter" (NCC-1898) "Cyane" class heavy frigate is launched [SotF].

08 February
The U.S.S. "Chengdu" (NCC-3228) "Ianar" class fast frigate is commissioned [IFP].

February The tragic Makus Fleet Maneuver results in the death of 12 crew members of the "Eiger" (NCC-1031) and 63 of the "Arashi" (NCC-1051) while allied with the "Amagi" (NCC-1016), "Bucke" (NCC-1020), and "Apia" (NCC-1053) against the heavy cruiser "Monitor" (NCC-1713). The "Arashi" is lost, the "Eiger" excessively damaged [SotF2].

14 February
The U.S.S. "Evian" (NCC-1043) "Akyazi" class perimeter action ship is laid down at Arbing & Lidde Starship Construction, Boston, Earth [SotF2].

16 February
The U.S.S. "Levant" (NCC-1843) "Enterprise (II)" class heavy cruiser is laid down at Star Fleet Division, Singapore Naval Yards, Earth. This second vessel of the class now carries the original "Levant" name [SotF, HCE].

19 February
The U.S.S. "Thun" (NCC-1055) "Arbiter" class perimeter action ship is launched [SotF2].

20 February
The U.S.S. "Armavir" (NCC-1059) "Arbiter" class perimeter action ship is commissioned [SotF2].

03 March
Last in the "Akyazi" group, the U.S.S. "Akula" (NCC-1090) perimeter action ship is commissioned. 25 ships in this sub-class will be built (NCC-1090-NCC-1114). Each vessel is armed with 15 phasers, 3 torpedo tubes, a complement of 75-81, and LN-94 engines (yielding a relatively slow warp 18.5 battle maximum compared to early classes) [SotF2].

04 March
The U.S.S. "Eire" (NCC-1041) "Akyazi" class perimeter action ship is launched [SotF2].

06 March
The Deputy Chief of Star Fleet Operations orders that "Ptolemy" (NCC-3801) class transport/tugs will be decommissioned on an individual basis as transports of the "Doppler" (NCC-3831) and "Dollond" (NCC-3900) classes achieve operational readiness. The first ship to be decommissioned is the U.S.S. "Al Rashid" (NCC-3802) [FRS].

18 April

Enroute to Earth to face court-martial, Admiral Kirk and his officers are forced to employ the light speed breakaway factor to the Klingon scout ship, to time warp into Earth's past (1986 O.C.). A Cetacean Probe is diverted from Earth with the help of two Humpback whales saved from extinction via time travel. Admiral Kirk is demoted to Captain rank and is given command of a new "Enterprise" (NCC-1701-A) which is launched from spacedock [ST IV, HCE, SotF].

19 May
The U.S.S. "Thrace" (NCC-1064) "Arbiter" class perimeter action ship is laid down at Singapore Shipbuilding & Engineering Co. Ltd., Singapore, Earth [SotF2].

30 May
The U.S.S. "Auguste" (NCC-1899) "Cyane" class heavy frigate is launched [SotF].

03 June
The U.S.S. "Jari' A' Neku" (NCC-3233) "Ianar" class fast frigate and the U.S.S. "Avesta" (NCC-1034) "Akyazi" class perimeter action ship are commissioned [IFP, SotF2].

04 June
Within 3 weeks of her first deployment, the U.S.S. "Akula" (NCC-1090) operating in conjunction with the "Atago" (NCC-1052) is challenged by Pryn family Orion fast attack craft at the outskirts of the Kat system. The "Akula" quickly neutralizes two of the ships by eliminating their warp drive capabilities with photon torpedo volleys directed at their main engines [SotF2].

07 June? (stardate 8454.1)
The newly-launched "Enterprise" (NCC-1701-A), while being debugged, is commandeered by Sybok, Captain Spock's half-brother, while on a rescue mission to Nimbus III. The "Enterprise" is taken through the Great Barrier and to the galactic center where it battles and defeats a non-corporeal entity. Sybok sacrifices himself and the "Enterprise" makes her escape with the Klingon scout ship "Okrona." Klingon Captain Klaa makes the first steps toward Klingon-U.F.P. peace [ST V].

June [reference stardate 2/2306] Two L-24 class battleships are in service in the Klingon Empire. The vessels are scanned along the U.F.P. border and are known to be working in that area. Intelligence gathered from Operation Dixie suggests that new L-24s will be stationed along the Romulan and Triangle borders in the near future [FASA].

The Type 2 Z-1 "Nova" class battleship enters service in the Romulan fleet with a crew of 580 [FASA].

18 June
The U.S.S. "Kitkun" (NCC-1091) "Akula" class perimeter action ship is commissioned [SotF2].

19 June

The U.S.S. "Aparri" (NCC-1077) "Arbiter" class perimeter action ship is laid down at Star Fleet Division, Puget Sound Yards, Earth [SotF2].

The U.S.S. "Baikal" (NCC-2513) "Belknap" class strike cruiser is drydocked at Newport News Shipbuilding, Virginia, Earth for a complex overhaul which will run half way through 2289 [SotF].

25 September
The U.S.S. "Amastra" (NCC-1046) "Akyazi" class perimeter action ship is laid down at Arbing & Lidde Starship Construction, Boston, Earth [SotF2].

04 October
The U.S.S. "Betzic" (NCC-3236) "Ianar" class fast frigate is commissioned [IFP].

13 October
The U.S.S. "Almdes" (NCC-1067) "Arbiter" class perimeter action ship is launched [SotF2].

October The "Cyane" (NCC-1890) and "Reprisal" (NCC-1896) heavy frigates challenge and later engage three Klingon "Domis'avyi" ("Guardians of the Border") ships over a territorial violation during Operation Distant Hammer. All three vessels are quickly defeated. The "K'chjne" and an unidentified ship self-destruct. The "Mje'ask" is escorted to the Federation border and tracked into Klingon territory [SotF].

26 October
The U.S.S. "Pi Quaran" (NCC-3238) "Ianar" class fast frigate is com- missioned [IFP].

Valdemar retires his position as Star Fleet Commissioner to accept a seat on the United Earth Triumvirate. His successor is T. Sela Arno [SotF].

The U.S.S. "Amchitka" (NCC-1310) class light cruiser prototype is launched. Certain basic design limitations, limiting its flexibility will prevent more than 8 of these vessels from being constructed [SfP].

15 November
The U.S.S. "Kuril" (NCC-1094) "Akula" class perimeter action ship is laid down at Terran Rockwell (Spacecraft Division), Pederson Spaceport, Earth [SotF2].

18 November
The U.S.S. "Couran" (NCC-3237) "Ianar" class fast frigate is commissioned [IFP].

David John Schmidt is posted to the "Athabaska" class exploratory/strike cruiser U.S.S. "Repulse" as First Officer. After serving aboard for two years, he will be assigned to the Strategic Design Group as the military coordinator [SfP, SFD].

The strike cruiser "Khirirat" (NCC-2503) is placed under selected re- stricted availability at Rigel [SotF].

Dax the Trill abandons a female host body and is joined with a male host body. Dax will not have a female host until Jadzia, some 80 years later [DSN 405, DSN #2].

The U.S.S. "Essahir" (NCC-2508) undergoes low-priority maintenance at Starbase 13. The U.S.S. "Shangri-La" (NCC-2517) takes part in the exercise Sevidar 551 in the southern Subquadrant region [SotF].

The U.S.S. "Jarrett" (NCC-2509) and the U.S.S. "Endeavor" (NCC-1716) are deployed for subquadrant cruises [SotF].

The U.S.S. "Raan" (NCC-2519) strike cruiser engages in classifed operations [SotF].

30 January (stardate 8442.5)
The uprated U.S.S. "Enterprise" (NCC-1701-A) heavy cruiser is commissioned. The "Enterprise (II)" class will consist of an initial total of 14 vessels: six of the original "Enterprise" class converted and seven newly construct- ed ships (NCC-1843-NCC-1849), including the rebuilt "Enterprise." Each ship, while externally identical to the "Enterprise" class, contains new Duotronic IV computer systems, advanced LN-64B warp engines capable of warp 13, a ship's complement of 510, a sensor suite, and all-new shipwide touch sensor (BLAC-3) control interfaces. Later ships in the "Enterprise (II)" class, beginning with the U.S.S. "America" (NCC-1847) will feature larger, reinforced engine support pylons, larger impulse decks, and fore and aft- firing torpedo tubes. The U.S.S. "Cicala" (NCC-2540) "Belknap" class strike cruiser, in the Toya-Sera region, takes part in the SciTest 12 exercise. The U.S.S. "Trigarta" (NCC-1075) "Arbiter" class perimeter action ship is laid down at Rodriquez Ingenieria, Lima, Earth [ST VI, SotF, HCE, SfP, SotF2].

03 April
The U.S.S. "Abreus" (NCC-1017) perimeter action ship responds to a distress call from what is believed to be a TacFleet intelligence ship. Upon arriving at the confirmed coordinates in the 3 south area, however, the "Abreus" is ambushed by no fewer than 7 hostile vessels. Debris analysis later reveals the weaponry to be of Romulan origin, but Star Fleet intelligence experts believe units of a Klingon "Hung nawlogh" (perhaps utilizing Romulan vessels) were responsible. The U.S.S. "Jarrett" (NCC-2509) strike cruiser returns to her home port at Star Station Tiran [SotF2, SotF].

04 April
The U.S.S. "Ki Rin" (NCC-2539) departs Starbase 19 and gets underway off Daran for refresher operations [SotF].

07 April
The U.S.S. "Shangri-La" (NCC-2517) strike cruiser takes part in the exercise Centerpiece 10 in the Cygnet region. The strike cruiser operates in the company of other deployment group units including the heavy cruiser "Achernar" (NCC-1732), the frigate "Spiro" (NCC-1884), the through-deck cruiser "Adroit" (NCC-1983), and the perimeter action ships "Korinthos" (NCC-848) and "Naze" (NCC-870) over the next several months [SotF].

The additional crew members and extended-mission preparation for the "Alor" (NCC-2544) is completed [SotF].

Kollos Kumerian's 701st Gunboat Flotilla ("The Bounty Hunters") begins a reign of terror that destroys 135 Kzinti fighters in a year and a half. Ardak Kumerian is pro- moted to Commodore [SFB].

The U.S.S. "Seneca" (NCC-2538) is deployed from Starbase 28. Her sister ship, the U.S.S. "Ki Rin" (NCC-2539) is deployed in the southern subquad- rant region [SotF].

The U.S.S. "Baikal" (NCC-2513) is deployed for a refresher cruise. Inspections by the Starbase 10 admiralty conclude for the strike cruiser "Fahrion" (NCC-2510) at that base. The U.S.S. "Seneca" (NCC-2538) takes part in a TacFleet special operations exercise. The U.S.S. "Ki Rin" (NCC-2539) is placed on local authority status for the system defense force operations in the Daran V area. The "Ki Rin" will later be reported operating with other subquadrant units in the northern Subquadrant 3 south/ Quadrant zero border area. The U.S.S. "Shangri-La" (NCC-2517) collides with the "Adroit" (NCC-1983) after a failure in her close-quarters maneuvering (CQM) system. The "Shangri-La" continues operations and will undergo reparis at Starbase 18 for the minor damage suffered--the "Adroit" having sustained nominal damage [SotF].

The U.S.S. "Matsurra" (NCC-2512) is placed under classified status. The U.S.S. "Raan" (NCC-2519) enters port at the Ophiucus Colony [SotF].

The U.S.S. "Essahir" (NCC-2508) re-enters Quadrant zero and takes part in a security escort mission with her sister ship U.S.S. "Raan" (NCC-2519) transferring Klingon prisoners to Starbase 23. The U.S.S. "Fahrion" (NCC-2510) strike cruiser is ordered to the outer subquadrant sectors in support of the patrol cutter "Mysia" suffering from major engine room damage (due to uncontrollable energy surges in her inter- mix shaft assembly). The "Fahrion" secures the sector as the starship tender "Achaea" begins repair procedures [SotF].

23 September
The U.S.S. "Baikal" (NCC-2513) departs Starbase 18 for patrol and observation duty in the vicinity of Kzin space. Her sister ship the U.S.S. "Rishiri" (NCC-2507) enters port at Starbase 21 in the com- pany of other exploratory group units, having been in space contin- uously for 1,120 days, 103 of which were spent on station in the ex- treme northern subquadrant area [SotF].

25 September

The U.S.S. "Shangri-La" (NCC-2517) departs her home port (Starbase 18) for the outer subquadrant area [SotF].

October The U.S.S. "Delphin" (NCC-2537) takes part in the joint Star Fleet/ Pokofi defense exercise Tadelt 10 with her sister ship the "Haven" (NCC-2514). She also takes part in an anti-incursion exercise (ANTOR) with numerous starships including the heavy cruisers "Thelonii" (NCC-1742), "Anak" (NCC-1821) and the "Alnilam" (NCC-1830) [SotF]. A band of depridators led by an Albino raids Klingon colonies. Three Klingon warships are dispatched to stop him. Most are captured but the Albino escapes promising to take revenge on the first born of each of the three captains. A few years later he will keep his word by infect- ing three innocent children with a genetic virus that will kill them, one of them being the godson of Curzon Dax. Klingon warriors Kor, Koloth, and Kang swear a sacred blood oath with Curzon Dax to seek vengeance on the Albino [DSN 439].
