   [ Worf is hit in the back by a falling plastic drum in a cargo 
     bay; Geordi and another crewman witness it from a distance ]

   [ Picard sitting in his Ready Room ]

  Picard:  Worf will never regain the use of his legs.

A CRIPPLED WORF CHOOSES SUICIDE OVER LIFE AS AN INVALID.

   [ Worf falls while trying to walk between training bars ]

   [ Riker fondles a Klingon dagger ]

   [ Troi and Alexander try and help Worf get up ]

   [ Worf, flat on his back, hands the dagger to Alexander ]

  Worf:  I want you to help me die.

...CAN A MEDICAL MIRACLE SAVE HIM?

   [ Bev and Dr. Russell confer in Sickbay over a 3-d 
     holographic view of Worf's spinal column ]

   [ Bev and Picard talking ]

  Bev:  If he goes into that operation, he could come out a corpse.

...OR WILL HE DIE UNDER THE KNIFE?!

   [ Worf on his back on the operating table, a protruding 
     ridged spinal column is very visible... ]

   [ Bev and Dr. Russell in red surgical outfits ]

  Russell:  He's going into cardiac arrest.

   [ Bev very angry;  Computer screen: PATIENT BIOMEDICAL STATUS,
       REAL TIME VITAL SIGNS DISPLAY... (all flatlined) ]

   [ Troi consoles Alexander ]
